I'm moving this to Ask a Cop so that you might get more responses..
At our district's schools, a school resource officer is actually stationed at the school in a office. He assists in displinary measures and acts as a liason between the school and the police department and other county agencies.
Most departments I know.. this is considered a promotion. Most SRO's have put in their time and want to get off the road. Some qualities that one should have is patience.. And a desire to work with kids obviously. No partner is worth your tears -
the one that is won't make you cry. - Anonymous
