How Many Years Carrying Weapon?

The question came up this morning: How many years have the people in our family been carrying a sidearm?

Well, I've carried a pistol or rifle or both for 21 years straight in the Army. As a Texas reserve police officer, I carried a pistol for 1 & 1/2 years. Retired, I carried a pistol for the past 10 years. Now in Oklahoma since 2000, with OK CCW its been 2 years.

So I've carried a sidearm for the past 32-33 years! Wheww

11 years as a cop, prior to that about 5 years as a ccw holder.
I feel nekkid without one nowadays.

I had to adjust some time, still it adds up to 31 years total. Hard to believe, but there it is.

And all that time no A/D, no thoughtless use and no bad behavior. After all, it's just a tool. How boring for the anti-gun crowd.

Technically, I began when I was 18, carrying either a Ruger MkI or S&W M19. Professionally, I began in 1989 with an S&W M3904.

I never have carried weapons. Weapons are far to dangerous to carry around. If weapons were removed, we would all have peace.

All we are saying, is give peace a chance.

I carried a handgun when travelling for several (3-4) years before I became a LEO.

Since I have been a LEO (1981), I haven't NOT carried( ) very much at all.

So, 25 years, give or take a few months?

I, too, feel nekkid without one, nowadays....

The first firearm I ever saw was the M-16A2 I was Issued at Parris Island. I never fired a pistol until I got a Bersa .380 about a month after I was discharged. I've been carrying ever since, and concealed since '97. And I've been shooting to make up for lost time!

I've carried a gun since I graduated from the police academy. That was a little over twelve years ago. I haven't had any a/d's, shootings, etc. during that time.

10 Years as a cop, 6 years asa CHL.
