See if you know any of these names. These are people our band has played with at conferences, fairs, & local concerts who are nationally recognized (at least in some circles) recording artists.

    Claude Gray
    Diane Jordan
    Johnny Tillotson
    Brian Hyland
    Bobby Vee
    Brian Black
    Roy Head
    Johnnie Lee
and a little girl who sang one song & then was whisked away to catch a flight to Nashville to record her very first record, Leann Rhimes.

Now, if you can tell me a song each one of these recorded (with the exception of Leann Rhimes), I'll either consider you a true music connoisseur or a golden oldie.

156: Yeah she was okay, just a little shaken up & seriously disappointed over missing "her band".

Echo to Peeler, I'm a big ELO fan, just never got to see them in concert. I caught them on TV a couple of times, but that was back in the days of Wolfman Jack's "Midnight Special", not like today, when music videos are running on a half dozen stations. I was just telling my kids about them the other night. They found it hard to believe that a rock band had violins and a cello in the mix.

Good to see a few ELO fans on the forum, they were the first group I ever saw, and still the best sound I have ever heard.
    Also seen;
    Queen
    Genisis
    Phil Collins
    Guns and Roses
    Elton John
    Skid row
    INXS
    Paul Young
    Status Quo
    Inner circle
    Moody Blues
    UB40
Rose Royce, Odyssey, Edwin Star, Village people! Laytoya Jackson, Soul to Soul, PM Dawn. This last part of the list I saw when managing nightclubs before becoming a cop. I've also seen alot of one hit wonders that no doubt have never been heard of in the US

    Ted Nugent
    Foreigner
    Kansas
    Fleetwood Mac
    Queen
    Parliment (studio session with friend)
    Helen Reddy (as personal security)
Viola Wills (70's disco as personal security)

As you can see, it's been a long time for me.

My wife just took two of my daughters to see a group called SUM 41 a couple of weeks back at a small club in Atlanta called "The Tabernacle". One of my daughters ended up being carried out by EMTs, after getting knocked down and trampled. The bad part was the kid is really into this band and the incident happened during their first song, so she had waited through three other bands and didn't get to see the band that she went for.

Needless to say, there will be no more general admission concerts in their future.

Kenny Rogers and Crystal Gayle about 23 years ago [Eek!] . Gallagher opened up and did intermission.

Beach Boys (Keeping the Summer Alive tour in like '83)

Charlie Daniels Band Decade of Hits/Windows tour

    Aerosmith Permanent Vacation tour

AC/DC Blow Up Your Video Tour

Tom Petty Great Wide Open tour. Georgia Sattelites opened for him. Great band to watch!

Robert Plant Non Stop Go tour. Probably one of the best sound systems I've ever heard at a concert! Cheap Trick opened up-KILLER!!!

    Deep Purple/Bad Company in '87

Georgia Satelites again as they tried a come back. It failed, but they're still great.

Molly Hatchet at the Boathouse in Norfolk, VA. If there was EVER a venue that picture perfect for that group, this was it! All that was missing was sawdust on the floor and a 400 lb bartender named Bubba.

The latest...Tim McGraw in Charlotte. What a great show! If you get a chance, go see it. Faith didn't come out, but it was still a lot of fun.

When I worked in VA, I tried to work as many concerts as I could. I saw:

New Kids (the night wasn't over fast enough!)

    R.E.M. (Green Tour)

Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe (might as well say Yes. A video was filmed for one of their songs at this show.)

Debbie Gibson. As bad as I hate to admit it, this was a DAMN good show!

Grateful Dead. Awesome experience both inside and outside the Coliseum. Got to met Bruce Hornsby's brother John backstage. Nice guy.

Too many rap shows to mention. Public Enema was one of the headliners...during their By all means necessary tour. I did not have a good time.

Motley Crue on their Dr. Feelgood tour. The Captain in charge of the detail wanted to arrest Tommy Lee when he mooned the audience.

Cinderella. Funny as hell. Grandma brings her 5 year old grandson to the backdoor looking for the entrance to the Cinderella show, not the rock concert. Sorry grandma, they're one in the same!

Whitesnake/Warrant. As soon as I was ready to take my place inside the Coliseum and watch the show...I mean, go to work...some drunk chick trips over her own shadow right in front of me and goes off as I'm trying to get her some help. Because her drunk ***, I missed Whitesnake.
