I really like it...the cheesy parts were overshadowed by got ole' "Hooooooooyah" scenes and the music, IMHO. I love the scene where Pare whips those four gang bangers with the coat stand...I STILL get acute gross testicular swelling when I watch that!
You can definitely tell who went through their awkward teen years during the early 1980's by those who merely remember Streets of Fire: a 90 or so minute music video masquerading as a movie, set in the 1950's but with a female singer whose costume is more appropriate to the 1980's! Though I have to admit she looked HOT in that dress!
Love the soundtrack! It's the ONLY reason to sit through an otherwise horrible movie. BTW I recently picked up the Streets of Fire soundtrack for $10 at Best Buy.
Although the "stars" of the movie were Michael Pare and Diane Lane, the movie's supporting cast are more familiar now: Amy Madigan as Pare's tomboy friend, Willem Dafoe as the lead biker, Bill Paxton as the bartender. Oh, and I can't forget Rick Moranis as Diane Lane's manager!
