  • Very Tragic**

I'm not sure if this has been posted but we definately need to pray for the families in this case.

Yup. We secure our firearms in a locker when processing for that very reason.

This happened in MY childhood hometown. Some friends and I left out yesterday AM around 0730 headed down to my family's farm, which is in Fayette Co., only to be greeted by this news.

Ditto on what Drunkhunter said. Since when do we not secure firearms before taking someone into a booking room? Although tragic, and 3 more names to add to the list this year, that was just plain asinine.

People, don't think a lot of the tragedies we read about that happen to police officers can't happen to you. Especially if you become complacent and careless, and give a cop killer an opportunity to ply his trade.

I'd like to know what they arrested that punk for in the first place; what he thought was so terrible that he had to kill those 3 to get away. Doesn't matter now; now he's in the deepest of $hit, and will get the needle. May he burn in Hell.

Story I read said he was being booked on a stolen vehicle charge. Tragic.

This will sound callous, and I don't mean it to, but I always look for a lesson to be learned when I read about officers killed in the line of duty. "Could/would I have done anything different?"

I'll do the same here...after thinking about the devastation to 3 families and hoping justice is swift.

Not a cop, and I know no details, but I've heard it said before that whatever your duty load is, it shouldn't be able to penetrate your vest.

It may be common knowledge, and may have not helped at all, but FWIW. *shrug*

I grew up in Fayette, AL. I was in both LEO offices this time last summer on business. The Police Department is 2 blocks east of the Sheriff's department. If the information is accurate, this shooting occured at the PD, not the SO(As some boards are saying, so deputies shouldn't have been involved, unless the city officers were transferring the shooter from the PD to the County Jail). The PD is a modern, yet very small facility, with its own dispatcher

the only problem is that your head does not have the protection of a vest...be careful out there.....
