  • Coming Out Of The Closet...

I'm no longer shy about admitting-I'm a Bugs Bunny fan!

I sadly read yesterday of the death of Chuck Jones, the animator who gave life to my heroes, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam, etc.

    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,46369,00.html

I grew up watching these characters on Saturday morning (BEFORE they decided to cut the gunshots and falls out for our safety!)

It's almost weird; as a 34 year old male police sergeant, to this day, I can laugh until I cause myself physical pain (no exaggeration) when I watch some of the funnier episodes:

"I'm a fiddler crab! Ain't you gonna shoot me? I'M A FIDDLER CRAB!"

"Alright varmint, I got ya outnumbered, ONE TO ONE!"

"Hello my honey, hello my baby, hello my raaaaaagtime gaaaal
People have more fun than anybody.

I'm kinda partial to the Martian, myself... HE blasts EVERYTHING....THEN asks questions.

          Dave, You're scaring ME now!!

Love them ol' classics.. I favor the one where they're after Rocky & gang...
"Now, I wouldn't turn the gas on if'n Rocky was in the oven now would I?"

"Aahh, Ya might rabbit, Ya might"

          and:
"Take the rabbit for a ride Mugsy"

Of course then there's the Monster getting the manicure. Or trick or treating at the witch's house.

Now I'm going to have to buy the video tapes!

BTW, I already have the Rocky & Bullwinkle collection... I know, they're your favorite too.

            Hey Dave,

All you have to do is quit your city-slicker job and go with a sheriff's office. Then ask to be assigned jail duty.

You can watch all the cartoons (and wrestling) along with the inmates!

FWIW, I tried to come out of the closet one time. But my wife wouldn't unlock the door!

My very favorite cartoon is Johnny Quest, with Race, Hadji and Bandit. My other favorites are Road Runner, Aqua Boy, Speed Racer, and the old Looney Tunes ones that i think were just called that... had things like bugs and dancing musical instruments, etc.
                (yes i'm OLD)

I grew up with the cartoons and enjoyed them a lot but now since they have removed soo much from them I do not watch them at all. The only tv I normally watch is the weather channel. Every now and then I will catch a episode of cops or worlds police vidoes.

Oh, no you're not! You would have mentioned the musical cartoons where they said "Okay, now just follow the bouncing ball and sing along" ... or Steamboat Willie.

Yes it is... It's my favorite one.. A guy I used to work with would quote lines from it when I was trying to do something serious causing me to break out laughing.

Critics complain that there was too much "violence" in those cartoons yet neglect to point out that this is when kids were introduced to classical music greats like Mozart, Tchaikovsky, etc.
Now all they have today is "techno-garbage" cartoons.

I also miss the Lil' Rascals series but, it appears Bill Cosby is now releasing them for air time because I saw a couple of shows on one of the cable networks.
