You gotta love rookies

Last night about 0430 I get a beer theft call. Two transients, one on a bike, take some beer. Well the rookie and his FTO catch the one on foot. I stop with them to see if we can find out where the guy on the bike is. While talking I see the guy on the bike about 100 yards down the road. I run to my car to give chase when suddenly there goes the rookie on foot chasing the bike. The FTO, jaw to the floor, is still standing with the other transient. Needless to say I quickly passed the rookie running for all he was worth. About 3/4 of a mile down the road where I finally caught the guy on the bike the rookie shows up about two minutes later panting for all he's worth.

I gotta admire the ambition but hopefully he's learned that when possible pursue from your vehicle.
