Study: Handsome men produce best sperm
Wednesday, May 28, 2003 Posted: 9:16 AM EDT (1316 GMT) Reuters

"Handsome men produce the best quality semen and beautiful women seem to have good voices, according to two different scientific studies."

i heard that when one of the female researchers was asked to do an "oral" report she stated that she was too busy to speak at the moment.

    I'll post, You argue.

People just dont know what to study anymore; I mean give me break. Who cares if George Clooney's sperm is better than Woody Allen's? Besides, it does not seem very valid ....the good sperm could be the result of another variable, such as economic status while growing up and as an adult, diet, and even how much those little guys of attractive men exercise (HAH)A good looking guy may just have more sex with a female while the ugly dude has a long term relationship with his hand.....that may be a reason....There are too many spurious variable that could skew the results.
Honestly, I started laughing when I started reading it and could not finish it, perhaps they took into account the other variables...who knows.
Frankly, it is gross...think of being a lab tech on that study and going home to your wife: "Well, baby, how was work?" "Well, babe, you seen one sperm, you seen them all; I am sick of looking at those guys, I think I will just come up with some bogus conclusion so I can start studying the effects of Hustler magazine on teen-age boys in Utah."

As a sophomore in high school, I remember thinking how STOOOPID it was for the government to spend $100K(1977 dollars) on studying 'the sex life of snails'. Things haven't gotten any better...

The best reference for this type of info that I've read is Mystery Dance: On the Evolution of Human Sexuality by Dorian Sagan and Lynn Margulis.

A lot of factors affect that kind of thing and it isn't limited to humans, either. Testosterone levels directly influence sperm count and spermatic health (motility). Men with higher positions of authority tend to have increased sperm counts compared to men in lower authority positions, and it fluctuates in response to positive feedback from women, which better looking guys get more of, obviously. Other supporting evidence comes from tests comparing the saliva (from which testosterone level can be ascertained) of fans of winning European soccer teams to that of the losing teams' fans and the results cross-referenced to sperm counts as well.

One of the most interesting things that dramatically increases sperm count (in addition to positive self image and feelings of attractiveness) is the perception or belief, or concern that one's spouse or partner has been unfaithful. Men who expressed fears of spousal infidelity during their absence or separation show a dramatic rise in sperm count too.

As for the female voice thing, that's very similar: Women with higher estrogen levels tend to develop more feminine features that are generally considered attractive, like curves in the right places, soft skin, the 1.7/1.0 hip/waist ratio that is universally considered the ideal shape by men regardless of the culture or region of the world, and also higher voices, which are functions of estrogen levels as well.

Hey, don't look at me...I didn't bring up the topic, I just happen to have read about this stuff and I like The Discovery Channel.

I just recently heard about a study saying that bald men are that way because of alot of testosterone. they also said these are the men with the most sexual activity going on.

Soooo...if the best looking men are getting the most...i guess bald IS beautiful! (i always thought so anyway)

So why are all these guys getting hair transplants and using all the other crap??

The baldness thing fits right in actually. Generally speaking, high testosterone males hit puberty early, start shaving younger and fill out their adult frames much earlier than low testosterone males. They also get male pattern baldness more often (with much earlier onset), and they tend to die younger. too.

Thanks to JB I'm feeling pretty good about my bald self right now.

Leno talked about this study last night in his monologue. We were talking about it this morning & one of the guys related a story about one of his college classes this past year. It seems there was some discussion in one of the biology classes about sperm & its composition. A blonde girl asked, "So why does it taste salty?" There was a momentary silence followed by a roar of laughter as the girl turned beet red & sunk in her chair. [Eek!]
