  • I DEMAND ACTION!!!!

As most of you know I recently joined this forum, and have been actively posting in the firearms section. I have been sharing my expertise and insight into the firearms, firearms training, and Beal Enforcement industries. My time has, for the most part, been very enjoyable, but recently I have seen an alarming trend.

On several different occasions I have come under attack while participating on this forum. The majority of these personal attacks have been relatively minor and have involved childish name calling. Stuff like idiot, moron, fool, Glockafool, Glock-a-molie and other less pleasant names. I have tolerated this abuse and have remained silent, but now I must stand up for what is right, and speak out.

This morning I posted another one of my fact filled posts, and was greeted with an alarming response. Another member posted this sentence "Choke Out Gaston".

I was shocked and appalled that anyone would actually make such statement about Gaston Glock. The man has done more to revolutionize the firearms industry then any one single man in history, more then John Browning, or Samuel Colt could have ever imagined doing, and this is the thanks he gets???????

Question: What, exactly, is a "Beal Enforcement industries"

And how, pray tell, do you become an "expert" in something that you just recently (by your own admission) started?

You can be as disturbed as you wish, but until/unless you start realizing that there is a life out there somewhere, that doesn't include Glock, or anything Glock related, it ain't gonna happen.

I carry a G17 on duty and I love it.I am going to purchase a glock for myself.I dont mean to give offense but I cannot include Gaston Glock in the same breath as Samuel Colt and John Browning.Yes the glock is a fine pistol but with no Samuel Colt then there would be no John Browning and without John Browning the semi-automatic pistol wouldnt be what they are today.I love my glock I will admit but I love my 1911 better I own a few Colt,Kimber and I recently bought a Charles Daly and it shoots great.Do I disagree with you glockophile?Yes but I wont resort to name calling its personal preference just like anything else.A golfer doesnt use the same club at every hole and in my thinking guns are the same way. Each has strong points and equally weak points but its no reason to resort to name calling when you disagree.I say to he|| with them get your favorite plastic fantastic out fire a couple hundred rounds and let the tension just melt away.Women got calgon we got indoor\outdoor ranges

You need to let personal comments go in one ear and out the other. You have to or you'll cry for days thinking no one likes you. You'll cry in your cereal and in your soup, you'll call people up and cry to them, you'll make an appointment or two to see a shrink and then cry some more...

It's not worth it. [Wink] LOL

I know nothing about guns. Sorry, I can't help you there.

Dang. You beat me to it.

I think that our guest let something slip...Beal...Veal? Maybe he works in the cattle industry? Maybe the guy who hits the cows on the head with a mallet to kill them? Cause he's been trying to do the same to us... [Wink]

Perhaps he works on the famous Beal Street of Memphis? That is the only thing I can figure.

I concur with Mike G. Without Samuel Colt, Gaston would be cranking out individual spaetzle makers when he wasn't having kaffe und kuchen down at the local Gasthaus.

Samuel Colt is the father of modern mass production, and it was he that revolutionized not only the firearms industry, but manufacturing in general.

As for Browning, his design has been around a lot longer than Gaston's, and probably none is more copied than the 1911. You know what they say about imitation, so only time will tell if Glock will ever be as good as he.

                    Glockaphile,

I haven't been shooting much, and only started about a year ago March. The Glock was the second semi-automatic I fired (the first was a Walther P99 9mm). The Glock will be the second handgun I buy, and the first semi-automatic (Glock 23). I like Glocks. But I also don't go around claiming that I could storm the Normandy beaches and overthrow the Nazi regime armed only with Glock handguns and Glock products (like that niiiifty vest). The Glock has pros and cons, and when you start recognizing the cons, you might find a warmer welcome.

I'll will admit that he has contributed to the firearms industry in the way of innovation, but thats about it.

He hasnt had NEAR the impact that others have had, and the list of names is long, here's a short list; Kalishnokov,Stoner,Browning,Colt,Mauser,Maxim, Garand,Gatling, all of these men have revolutionized the industry at the time of thier being.

I would put him in the same category as Ruger, a man who weapons have'nt impacted as much due to the simple fact that his were not weapons of war but I will give him credit for innovative manufacturing procceses and an understanding of marketing and adverstising techniques. The fact that his is a mere "pistol" automatically eliminates most people in the world from ever expieriencing his product.

                      Lets face the truth here...

Fact of the matter is, if you are in a battle and you are using a pistol, then you have erred and are in a world of hurt. [Eek!]

First of all, NO ONE on O.com is ever in a position to DEMAND anything(moderators/admins excluded). That includes you, me....ANY member here. We are all guests of this forum.

FWIW, you WOULD NOT have been 'picked on' in any manner whatsoever if you hadn't come aboard trying to 'shove Glocks down everyone's throats'.

Contrary to what you may think, I own and actually LIKE Glocks. However, Glocks ARE NOT the pinnacle of firearms design you, or anyone else, makes them out to be. If anything, they are the 'S&W M10 of today's LEO world'. They are simply a basic, tough, reasonably reliable TOOL. Nothing more.
