  • Top 700 High Schools by Newsweek

I believe my beloved high school made the list of TOP 700 Schools that for GOD SAKES DON'T SEND YOUR KID THERE!!

But any of you see your high school on the list?

Aptos High made it, I live in Aptos; though I didn't go there. Oddly enough, I've not heard many good things to say about that school. At one point it was so overcrowded, the sewage backed up, and flooded the locker rooms!

Huh, 22% of the schools are in California, I though we were supposed to have the 3rd worst education system in the nation. 'Cause, we're only about 15% of the population, and... and I find myself with too much time all of a sudden!

Aw, da**it. One of our (two) crosstown rivals made it but my high school didn't. Those SOB's don't deserve anything!

Man, it's been seven years, when does my school spirit die down?

See, this is actually a list of what schools to which a child should not be sent.

Think about it. High School is boot camp for life...if boot camp is happy and pleasant, what are you gonna learn?

Nah...high school should be a miserable, grinding horror that convinces you that you want to get out of there and NEVER GO BACK TO ANYTHING LIKE IT AGAIN!

At least, that's the way I run my classes.

Most of the Texas schools appeared to be "money" schools. But then, schools with money attract a higher level of student. No, my school didn't make it. The high school that started in my school district the year after I left was listed in the 300's. That school district has four high schools now.

                HAAA....

Why I am not surprised that there are NOT any Louisiana schools on the list????

Ahhh...don't answer that, I am afraid of the answer!

10 from Wisconsin. None that I know anyone that went to them.

Really, does it matter. We all know schools should be rated on how good their football team it. [Eek!]

Now I know that list is BS. One of the schools in my county was #32!!!!! Yet they had dozens of seniors fail the standardized test to graduate.

In fact, of all the high schools in my county, there is only one I'd rank lower in choices to send my child to than that one.

California is rated higher when the name of the list is changed to "Indoctrination Centers" and not public schools. THAT is the difference.

Hey, now, NickG, all schools are indoctrination centers, one's perspective is merely altered by exactly what is being indoctrinated!

Seriously though, how can a school be an indoctrination center when they barely educate you, let alone indoctrinate?

education and indoctrination are 2 different things.

teaching you math is "education". informing you of the fun things you can do with masturbation and the gay lifestyle is "indoctrination".

teaching you "The History of the Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire" is education. informing you where the latest seminar is on "fisting" is indoctrination.

see the difference?? quite simple really.

Wow, either you like to embellish, or your local high schools must be fascinating places!

Regardless, indoctrination to me is attempting to coerce people into thinking a certain way, to achieve such goals, biased views can be infused into any subject matter, thus the education of math, history, or science has become indoctrination in pursuit of a partisan viewpoint!

As for homosexuality, NickG, I find it rather amusing that you wish to indoctrinate high school students with a viewpoint that has proved to be susceptable to fact in an effort to prevent another sort of indoctrination you percieve (once again, I find your high schools fascinating, because mine didn't tout that homosexual lifestyle beyond the fact that if someone's gay, and you don't like it, just keep your mouth shut)
