Hehehehehehehehehe....
LEXINGTON, Ky., 3:36 p.m. EDT July 3, 2002 - A former porn actor wants to be the next governor of Kentucky.
Sonny Landham said he's tired of what Democrats are doing to the state, so he's decided to run for governor as a Republican, NewsChannel 32's state Capitol reporter Chris Gilligan reported.
In the early 1970's, Landham acted in nine adult movies including "Naked Came The Stranger."
"I never hid it," Landham said. "If you've seen my movies, you've seen the bad times."
He is embarrassed about his acting start, but said it will only help him in the long run, Gilligan reported.
"If I had it to do over again and know what I know now, I'd say, 'no,'" Landham said.
He also starred in mainstream hits like "Predator" and "48 Hours," Gilligan reported.
Landham said his acting, directing and producing career is the perfect training for running the state.
"My business background comes from making low-budget movies, so therefore, I know how to stretch a dollar," Landham said.
Landham wants to cut taxes, improve schools and give fathers a better say in custody battles.
"This state has been raped, robbed and plundered by the Democrats, who are really no better than the communists," Landham said.
Landham is suing the federal government for $300,000 for false imprisonment. He spent 31 months in prison on assault charges that were later dropped, Gilligan reported.
Landham, who lives in Ashland, said his pastor and church have forgiven him. He hopes voters will too.
"I will be your next governor of Kentucky," Landham said. "I am not the perfect candidate, but I will be the best governor you've ever had."
Landham is the sixth Republican to enter the governor's race, Newschannel 32 reported.
