I didn't used to believe in the full moon syndrome until I became a cop.

Sunday, between 1330-1500, 6 runs on my district, 3 resistors, glad that pace didn't keep up all day. We usually have people run, not fight.

I believe whole-heartedly. In three days in my little community out here: 5 arrests: 2 burglary, 2 battery, one DUI. Two search warrants typed and served with property recovered, roll-over accident and half dozen citations with 8 hours toward FLSA time. That's a typical month out here, not three days.

        What?

No calls about some guy obstructing traffic
wearing nothing but his wrist band from the psych ward?

There are few worse calls than wrestling with some sweaty, slippery, naked, crazy guy in the middle of the interstate.

crazyguy: "You demons want to steal my spirit! but I found it again and you can't have it again! 'Cause I'll tell people about your underground sky tunnels, because I have my spirit wings! and I can fly at night like the spirit bird!"

poorofficerwhocaughtthecall: "I KNEW I should have called in sick tonight!"

in astronomy class in college they taught us that the full moon affects people for a very logical reason. think about this, when the moon is full the tide is higher b/c the pull of the moon on the water is greater. since humans are composed mostly of water it is only logical that it would also affect humans. see...Astronomy 101. We had a busy full moon complete with nutters, fighting and general mayhem in our otherwise quiet little town,

Anybody else have to shave more at full moon or is it just me ?

My wife says the full moon theory applies to her school children as well. They are always a little more hyper. She also says a low front effects the kids. We had a health fair last week & she said it wasn't fair to have it during a full moon because you weigh more then. The moon also effects the amount of dirt you get digging a hole. If you dig between a new moon & full moon, you won't have enough dirt to fill the hole. If you dig after a full moon, you'll have extra dirt when you refill the hole.

My son's act different when its a full moon. They are little more testier and they act weird.
They fight more. And when they were infants they were harder to get settled down, they cried alot.

I find there is a lot of wanting to "get naked" when the moon is full. Interesting that others have mentioned it!

Us too, but for some reason, it was the employees that were acting froggy!

                            Example:

Friday @ 1800 hrs: Dispatcher calls in and says that she is calling off for her shift on Saturday that starts at 1400 hrs! WTF?! She says that she feels sick and knows she won't be better by the next day, so she's giving us time to find someone for the shift. Yeah, right...

Saturday All Day: No one wants to work the shift, surprise surprise. I keep getting paged to see if I want to work it. No, I don't, since I specifically requested this day off since it is my daughter's 2nd birthday and we are having a party for her. BTW, this same thing happened last year, which had me leaving the party early because no one else wanted to work. I was NOT going to do that this year. My boss had to come in and work the shift.

Sunday @ 9am: Dispatcher calls me and tells me that the same dispatcher that called off has now convinced a call-taker to take over her dispatching shift for her. Furthermore, said dispatcher is now at a deployment station getting intimate with an ambulance driver WHO IS NOT HER HUSBAND! Hubby, a police officer to top it all off, is at home taking care of the kids. I called my boss (he just happens to live a few blocks away from the station) and he caught her there.

That was my weekend, AND I DIDN'T EVEN WORK!

People have more fun than anybody.
