Probably a lot like the smell I had after riding ATV's on the sand all day in 100 degree heat and 99% humidity. Only a level II vest and didn't have to deal with the boots though.

Gee Nite, the beach patrol sounds real rough, must be hard to tolerate the beaches and the bikinis all day log.

DR, I too feel for you. Its awful hot. Our newsman informed us it would be an cold 104 all night long. And then told us its not polite to hurt the weatherman just because he reports the weather.

The shower is good yes, but, we are still expecting an insurance settlement from my wreck. I have the wife talked into letting me build this fancy two story garage I want if we do get it. She wanted a pool. I'm begining to see the wisdom of her ways. Instead of sitting down at the computer with a fan blowing over me when I get home people can just follow the trail of scanky clothes from the driveay to the pool when I get home and find me in there.

Let's see, wool pants, motorcycle engine heat, people dropping like flies on the pavement from heat stroke; and, sandy beaches, shorts, topless European women, we are complaining about the same thing, right?

                            Wanna trade?

DR I know we kid a LOT about the "but it's a DRY heat" thing. (Yeah, so is a Blast Furnace.)

But believe me, I'd take the dry desert heat ANYTIME over the humid heat! Besides that you only have it terrible for a few months versus the year 'round humidity in some places.

FWIW, I've been known to shed the Sam Browne and just dump a water can over myself, uniform and all after getting back to the car from a desert search or crime scene. Then get in and fire up the air conditioner. Often wondered what the foreign tourists who witnessed this were thinking!!!!!
