  • Toxic mold...

If you've been following news in the Southeast, you're familiar with this problem. To date, at least ONE student death(Memphis, TN) has been associated with the presence of this 'toxic mold'. Several schools in the South have been closed for cleanup. Now they THINK they've found it in MY school. Time will tell whether they spend the $$$ to do a proper cleanup....or if they simply try to 'sweep it under the rug'....as has been the case with other 'problems' in my county.

We had 2 hurricanes down here and my daughter's house flooded. My 4 year old granddaughter almost died from it. It's some bad stuff.

you can SEE the mold growing on the walls at my job (basement, carpeted walls, old, OLD district court bldg that used to be a supermarket of all things) you can SMELL it when you walk in... and everyone is chronically ill... BUT, they had some fancy company in to check the air quality, and it's "within acceptable levels."

I've never been sick so often in my life as at this job. Between the hours, lack of ventilation, and mold...

We're in a river valley, below the floodplain line. I've always wondered about just *how* toxic our fungi are...

Sounds like it's time to sue!

There are lawyers that specialize in toxic mold cases. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes the threat of a law suit to get an employer to treat a problem seriously. Perhaps you should seek legal advice either directly through an attorney or through your union. At the least, it seems like an independent expert should check your work place.

I wonder what people did in the old days before they realized they could suck the public tit and get rich?

There are probably many people who are involved in law suits just for the money. On the other hand, there are some people who are involved in law suits because they want to make positive changes. My personal observation has been that government (including many police departments) is not willing to make changes unless faced with a law suit or the threat of a law suit. The fact that a change would be good for employees or the public is generally not enough. Hence, people are often forced to sue in order to get government to do things that it should have done in the first place.
