Why do they have to remake everything?

It does all come down to the almighty dollar. Some movies are better left original such as my personal favorite, Somewhere in Time, and that horrid remake of The Shining for TV but some movies are interesting remade, especially if the former was in B&W. I'd love to see a remake of Citizen Kane for example..
