  • Officer injured by Clinton motorcade

Found this article on http://www.drudgereport.com/ This site is a plethora of news items

10/14/01) YONKERS - A bizarre accident at Westchester County Airport involved Senator Hillary Clinton's entourage Sunday.

Sources tell News 12 Westchester that a vehicle in Senator Clinton's security team tried to bypass a mandatory check point at the airport, which has been under a heightened state of alert since the terrorist attacks. A county police officer attempting to stop the vehicle from getting through injured his shoulder. That officer was taken to Saint Agnes Hospital in White Plains, and his condition is not known.

Senator Clinton, who turned 54 Sunday, was en route to board a private jet to an unreleased destination. The former first lady could not be reached for comment.

Now THAT is bulls***t!! The least they could have done is stopped for a minute to tell them who they were and where they were going.
If there is a tourist season, why can't I shoot them???

This sounds like the responsibility of the security team leader ... I'm not sure what the policies are for something like senators, however, other escorts such as Heads of State, Presidential, or similar ones, don't stop for anything until they reach the destination. That is to prevent someone dressed as an officer or otherwise from harming the protectee. The job of the "leader" in this case would have been to contact the airport, and notify them they were coming, and maybe have a scout car to make contact with the gate guards / officers. Again, I don't know the policies behind a senator's "escort" or, if they even have official "escorts" ... but it sounds like the security team leader dropped the ball on this one. The guards / officers would have no idea who the senator was without the advance notice.
I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather ... not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car.

Hmmmm...one also wonders what the correct response(by security personnel) for someone bypassing a security checkpoint at a major airport should have been....

It sure as hell isn't to jump out in front of the GD thing!!!

I kind of wish that it was me. I could handle the sore shoulder. The multi-million dollar settlement would ease some pain, I'm sure.

Since Hillary is the wife of a former president she gets lifetime Secret Service protection. Normally Senators only get protection from the US Capitol Police and then I don't believe they always have security with them.

Alot of different things went through my mind about this. The least she could do is say she is sorry. Of course, even that is probably too much to ask.

Since the officer involved apparently did NOT know who was in the limo, what WAS the correct course of action he SHOULD have taken?

Should he have used FORCE? Just what ARE the 'rules of engagement' in place(?) at airports regarding security personnel?

You actually think Hillary Clinton is going to say she's sorry for something or make an inquiry about the officer. Don't hold your breathe.

Somewhere there is a former team leader who is filling out applications for truck driving school.

I'll bet the guy who displayed such wonderful judgement by jumping in front of a car is probably the one at fault on this one.

I don't believe the officer is at fault here. He was doing his job by working a roadblock. When a car runs the roadblock/checpoint you don't know what their intentions are, plus it is his duty to stop the car by all means.

Of course I wasn't there, but it seems the officer was in the right. As for the force issue, i'd say pursue until the car stops and detain everyone until you find out who they are and why they were acting like idiots.

Well, someone really dropped the ball on this one. But then, Queen Hilary probably will say nothing.

Well, I am sure if it would've been ex-pres Bush's motorcade that did the hitting, it would not have made the news because he would have had his old CIA buddies kill all the witnesses, lol.

OK, glad to see Clinton bashing still going on . . .

BTW, how could the guy's shoulder have stopped the motorcade? If someone crashed through a blockade wouldn't the logical thing to do be to follow them?
