    and said they bumped the CV problem up to a recall, but only for certain VIN #s.

    too bad several officers had to die before this decision was made. [Frown]

      That sounds funny. All our new CVs were retrofitted. They never asked any questions, just sent the parts to our maintenance dept.
      "Trust me. I'm from the government, I'm here to help."

        I think all of our CV's are going to be retrofitted also.

        I have heard that the car the Dallas officer was killed in had been retrofitted.

          our 2002s had the retrofit, but the guy from the dealership called and requested that we supply him with the VIN #s because there has been a full recall on a particular type of crown vic. i'm not sure on the exact recall fix and he didn't say what the VIN #s were that they were recalling.

            It may be unrelated to the fuel tank/fire recall, there's a couple of CV recalls in effect that are limited to sequential VIN's. They do involve the fuel system however.

            For the fuel tank recall specifically on Police Interceptor models, Ford has announced that they will ALL be retro-fitted regardless of date of manufacture . Check out http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/current/crownvic/index.htm near the bottom of the page, under Ford activities.

            Also go to http://www.cvpi.com Ford's new website created specifically to address the police CV. Download the FAQ (PDF format). They say all CV's in police service are eligible, but Ford breaks it down at their site under the registration link and says:
