Treason in Congress?

Well I am pro-death penalty so here goes.

If any person, knowingly and willfully places American soldiers in harms way by unnecesarily divulging classified information, they should be tried, and upon conviction, executed!

As I recall, you CAN be executed in peacetime for treason if you are convicted. Remember Julius and Ethel Rosenburg? It was peacetime, and they were both executed for treason. The law hasn't changed, as far as I know. Personally, I think a firing squad is in order.

I believe that the Rosenberg's were convicted of Espionage, not treason, for which they were executed.

If they are given Classified Information and in this case leaked they should open an investigation and prosecute to the full extent of the law. Death Penalty for Treason.No exceptions.

Wrong. Treason has always been punishable by death and as long as we have wars it probably will remain that way.

Apparently not. It didnt prevent treason in this case did it? Perhaps a public hanging would prevent more from occuring later on down the road.
How would you feel if your 23 year old kid in Afghanistan was killed because some attention seeking senator looking to get his name in the press leaked information and compromised a mission ?

There is a difference between treason and espionage. At one time both were punishable by death.

Last time I checked, Texas puts murderers to death often.....yet there are still murders in that state.
