All that oil is running into the virgin wild life area. They say the enviornment has't suffered but with all that oil flowing per minute it has to effect the land and animals. I saw it sprewing on CNN. They should put additional charges on him for that, federal charges.

An idiot. Toss him into one end of the pipeline and fish him out at the end.

    Alaska Pipeline Breeched

The Trans-Alaska pipeline was breeched, on OCT 4th, when 37-year old Daniel Carson Lewis of Livengood, Ak. shot a hole into the pipline with a .338 caliber rifle. AST Troopers along with Alyeska service company security officers claim that Lewis fires four shots at the pipeline but the rounds had ricocheted off the out shielding. Lewis then repositioned himself and fired one round that was able to puncture the pipeline. Lewis was arrested after a four hour search. Lewis was taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center, where he registered a .018 bac. Lewis is being held on the charges of: Felony assault, weapons misconduct, criminal mischief, and driving while intoxicated. His bond has been set at $ 1.5 million.
Since the shooting on october 4th, the bullet hole released an estimated 285,600 gallons of crude. Alyska sevice workers placed a hydraulic clamp over the bullet hole then welded a patch over the hole. Clean up crews have cleaned an estimated 88,000 gallons of crude. According to Alyeska Pipeline Service Co. reps, the pipeline has been shot at 50 times since it's building but has never resulted in a puncture. The Trans Alaska Pipeline carries 17% of the nations oil.
