SALT LAKE CITY (Reuters) - Crushed cockroaches in diet coke -- that''s what Australian aerial freestylist Jacqui Cooper says she drank to recover from a serious back injury.

"It wrecks your stomach inside but it fixed my back," she was quoted as saying on the Salt Lake City Games Web site.

Cooper, one of the favorites for the women''s Olympic gold, said the potion helped draw out "bad" blood from her injury. She was doing push-ups within three weeks of fracturing her vertebra.

Cooper, a triple World Cup champion, is expected to try a rare triple jump in the competition on February 18.

LOL I think that the minerals and the vitamins in the cockroaches some how might have played havic on the stomach but if it helps you feel better and heals you faster then I can see studiing the effect and what is in the combined drink to see if the mineral and other items in the drink could be condensed down and purified to be placed into a drug or a vitamin that would help people with other injuries that they suffer nowadays. Maybe call the vitamin R-bug1?

yep blonde all the way but even i can laugh at myself. And i agree it is digusting. I had the pleasure of eating one myself. I was 12 sitting in this fan back chair and it dropped from the ceiling into my oarnge sherbet icecream. In case anyone is wondering they are really crunchy.

I only knew i started eating one because it was crunchy. I know orange icecream is not crunchy so i spit it back in the bowl and it was a roach. Needless to say it was gross and have not touched orange sherbet again.

LOL Well that is good I like orange sherbert so that saves a lot of it for me LOL. I have not had the unique oppertunity to eat a roach but they can not be any worse than some of the insects I have eaten LOL.

Reminds me of a time I went to the local greasy spoon diner ordered up scrambled eggs with bacon & home fries..... as I was chowing down I looked on the plate.. Hmmm, "HEY, TONY, why do the home fries have legs?" EEEWWWWW, that was the last time I ate there!!

The one thing I have heard though is to look for legs on your black olives when you get that carry out or delivered pizza. I personally have not found any but I have known some who stated that they had some but had eaten over half the pizza before they finally saw the little legs LOL.

What I want to know is, how did she find out cockroaches were the magic cure? I mean, how many different kinds of bugs did she crush up in her soda before she leaped out of bed one morning and said "My back doesn't hurt!"???
