  • Shooter, now ya got me scared!

I went to the grocery store today. I always pay attention to what's around me but when I turned around, a homeless man was standing there and "Give me a dollar". I yelped and ran to the front of the car and grabbed my mace, it scared me so bad. A man came out of another store and asked if I was ok but I told him to keep his distance. I was not nice and he was trying to be. Dang, that scared me!

One of the detectives in my old Florida department left his PISTOL(S&W 5904) on the roof of his car. It was NOT a pretty sight, may his pistol rest in 'pieces'... [Frown]

I left my warrant card (badge) on the roof of a car following a traffic stop, having put it there to give the driver a phone number from a piece of paper inside it. Driver drove off with me none the wiser.

3 hours later, a colleague approached me and said 'Some guy just gave this to me. he found it in H****** Road' (about 2 miles away).

          Phew.

I just wasn't prepared. I turned and this man was a foot away from me and I never saw him. My husband called me a scardey cat. Well, I'm not 6'5 and 250 lbs like him!
I always thought though that my husband, because of his size, just wasn't aware of things going on around him. He's very intimidating looking. But I have noticed several times he has told me to walk close to him or he's taken my arm and put me on the other side of him, never taking his eyes off someone he's seen.

I work in the middle of downtown San Diego, and at this time of year, Spring and Summer, the homeless are out in droves. They hit you up for money, food, whatever. There are a few who are having "argument's" with a person only they can see. A few of them beg for money or cigarettes, but most keep to themselves. However, there is one man who tried to pass himself off as homeless. He stands near a McDonalds and as you pass, asks you for money so that he can get something to eat there. He is nicely dressed, clean and wearing expensive looking jewelry and when I've told him no (he's asked on more than one occasion) he tells me, "Well then, God forgive you." I never answer him back, because it's not worth the time and effort, but one of these days, I may say to him, "No, God forgive YOU!"
