Granted the native americans were here when most of the settlers came over from the old world to the new world. They brought over the english language and most or the people here in the colonies at the time of the revelution spoke english. Since that time it has become the major language of our nation. I do not understand why everyone wants to have their own little language in this vast land all it is going to do is cause mistrust among ourselves and we will end up fighting ourselves. I think english should be the language of this great nation. I know that the native americans were here fisrt but with over 500 languages of thier own it would not make sense to use thier languages. I liked the article and it should say something to those who know what the price of our freedom has been. I think all that do not like the flag waving and the partiotic themes needs to get the heck out of this country. This is America. Yes we may bicker about this and that but together we can do anything.
Just my opinion

The author of this letter is just espousing once again an often repeated myth. I've even heard it said in schools, but the truth is just too dark for most people to confront.
America was not founded on Christian principles, by Christians. Where ever does the author get that from?
In God We Trust is indeed our motto, but in no manner or shape can the author believe, unless he lives in a cave, that the motto came from those times.
The documents he cites to prove his statements were written after the fact, and hold a little bias there folks.
Actually, I would advise the writer that English is the language of another land; it is foreign to us here. If the author were to really be speaking American, it would be one of 532 existing native languages...English is a transposed, overlapping language which first began to be evolved into what is now American English only 530 years or so ago.
Timewise, you just got off the bus.
The guy signs off with that very dusty old favorite...If you don't like it, leave!
Well, my family can't leave. This is our home; covered in concrete, buried under blacktop, open 24 hours daily illuminated with neon lights...but our home nevertheless.
Jesus Christ had nothing to do with those stawalt lads and their deeds.

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some
individual or their culture. Since the terrorist
attacks on Sept. 11, we
have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority
of Americans.
However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled
when the "politically
correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility
that our patriotism
was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge
against anyone who is
seeking a better life by coming to America. Our
population is almost
entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants.
However, there are a few
things that those who have recently come to our
country, and apparently some
born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community
has served only to
dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As
Americans, we have our
own culture, our own society, our own language and our
own lifestyle. This
culture has been developed over centuries of
struggles, trials, and
victories by millions of men and women who have sought
freedom. We speak
ENGLISH, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese,
Russian, or any other
language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our
society, learn the
language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not
some Christian, right
wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because
Christian men and
women, on Christian principles, founded this nation,
and this is clearly
documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our
schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you
consider another part of the
world as your new home, because God is part of our
culture. If Stars and
Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then
you should seriously
consider a move to another part of this planet. We are
happy with our
culture and have no desire to change, and we really
don't care how you
did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY,
our land, and our
lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to
express his opinion and
we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But,
once you are done
complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our
pledge, our national
motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you to
take advantage of one
other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.Tags: None
