  • Free handouts, Welcome to America.

Does anyone have any thougts pertaining to Americas current practice of letting in just about anybody (terrorists, criminals, drug-dealers etc.) and provoiding them with "free/tax paid" health care (getting knocked up in Cuba and coming here to have and raise the child), free, court appointed, lawyers for when they commit a crime or any other free service(s) that our tax dollars provide.

I hope your post isn't what it sounds like, but you do seem to think all immigrants are either one, both, or all of the above.

(getting knocked up in Cuba and coming here to have and raise the child)
I thought it was a good thing to encourage people to get out of Cuba ... ?

free, court appointed, lawyers for when they commit a crime or any other free service(s) that our tax dollars provide.
Yeah, that whole "innocent until proven guilty" routine is the stupidest stuff I've ever read!

Maybe kilo isn't very articulate, but I can see how someone would share that sentiment. Many Americans are tired of money and benefits being delved out by the government to persons that are perceived to be "leeching" off the system.

But it's not just immigrants who have taken advantage. I've seen a person drive a newer BMW to the store and buy their food with food stamps! Apparently, I have seen numerous similar incidents (see my quote below!).

However, many legal immigrants have made valuable contributions to our country and for that we should all be proud. I just wish we didn't make it so easy to scam the system...
        Officer, I borrowed these pants!

          Kilo,

It's not just immigrants who abuse our system. It happens right in our own backyard from American citizens.

There are many people who could and should be working but aren't. They suck up the freebies, and how they get away with it is beyond me.

I mentioned on another forum about a woman I work with who's taking advantage of our tax dollars. To make a long story short, we were both at a deli one day, she was in line ahead of me, she was rung up, whipped out her food stamps card and paid for her groceries like it was nothing at all.

This woman makes GOOD money at the company we work at, sucks up the OT, and is cheating the system. I'm sick of it. I work too hard for this kind of BS. Enough is enough...

          kk

          Don,

I didn't post on the other forum yet, but wanted you to know I made an anonymous phone call today.

When your H gets a $30,000 bonus and he gets $18,000 of it, it does tend to make one grumble a bit.
Back when I was in college and he as the only one working, we qualified for food stamps. But e didn't get them. We learned to ECONOMIZE. We didn't buy a lot of new stuff. Entertainment was playing cards with friends. We bought the store brand ice cream. And we made it through just fine.
I don't mind when the money goes to those who need it but the sams in this country makes me believe only half of it goes to thise who need it. And the government! I want one of them new fangled 500$ toilet seats!

I can see how the original post may be offensive to some, but this is something I feel very strongly about. Our country is full. Period. End of story. The illegals that are here now, fine, they made it, horray for them. Give them their damn citizenship. CLOSE the borders. Yes, we all have an immigrant history. Good for us, we made it in before the deadline. We should not be allowing people from other countries to come here and prosper. We have too many problems with our OWN people. They live where they live, and we live where we live. If they have a bad life there, it's just too damn bad. We can't be a huge bleeding heart society who thinks every nations problem is OUR problem. No offense, but F em'. Out of sight, out of mind. I'm sure this will sound quite cruel, and cold-hearted to many (i have two people in mind who i KNOW will just **** and moan about this), so be it. It's these people who feel sorry for the illegals, immigrants, and people trying to come here that are holding our country back. The people who try to sneak here from Cuba in little life rafts? F em'. Send them back to their own country. If they resist, shoot them. They know the rules, they know the laws. It's their choice to break them. If they can't handle the consequences, they shouldn't be playing the game.

They don't really spend $500 on a toilet seat ... they can't put "Top Secret Super-Sonic Stealth Bomber" on the budget, y'know

(i have two people in mind who i KNOW will just **** and moan about this),
I don't know about ****ing or moaning ... but I certainly disagree with your assessment. The U.S. must always be open to immigrants. Besides, we're hardly full. North Dakota has a state-wide population less then Baltimore City alone. We got plenty of room!

Personally I don't care if any Cubans ever leave the country! They can all stay there as far as I'm concerned!

At this rate though, I can se where we would end up like China.....A couple is allowed only one child. Many times, if it's a girl, they adopt it out and we adopt them over here. Many keep trying til they have that boy. Orwells 1984 is coming true, slowly but surely.

Just kidding, youre not who I had in mind. Of course the country isn't FULL in the way you stated, but as far as available jobs, etc etc etc go, we're just about to the brim. Don't get me wrong, I've been known to hire a few Mexicans here and there to do my dirty work, but if it were up to me, I'd have them all be gone, and do it myself. We're living in very different times these days. While their have technically been attatcks against the US, there had really been nothing major up until September 11. Yes there was OK City bombing, and the first trade center attack, but mainly, the real damage had been done to our property, such as the USS Cole, our countless embassys, etc. If people keep their way of thinking, about just letting anyone in, then things will only get worse.

It may not go well with others, but I target people I feel may not be up to any good. If I am on my meal, or getting a drink or whatever from a convenience store, and come across people (read: middle eastern) who don't speak english, or suddenly stop talking (yes, alot of americans do this too), then you damn well better believe I'm going to find out whatever I can anout them. I'll ask for their ID, run their plates, whatever. Havent ran into any TERRORISTS, but the few times I've done it to some spanish, mexican, whateveryouwannacallems, usually, these people turn out to be illegals. I'll detain these people, and make the necessary calls to the necessary agencies. Our country, and long island especially is being over run by these low lifes. yes theyre hardworking. So am I. Yes they deserve a home. So do i. these people do nothing but bring down property values, generally make the area look disgusting and poor. if we let these people keep coming in, guess what? our country is going to look just like their own ****hole county. they dont respect us. they come here to make money, and send it back home so that their little scum can come here and further deplete us.

So, what you're saying is, the lack of English-speaking skills, or simply the lack of desire to speak while a cop is around, is sufficient probable cause to detain someone?

I think even our conservative US Supreme Court will disagree with you here. They may not be citizens of this country, they may not be here legally, but if you violate their civil rights then you will lose just as much of your hard-earned assets in a lawsuit as if their relatives came over on the Mayflower.

Havent ran into any TERRORISTS, but the few times I've done it to some spanish, mexican, whateveryouwannacallems, usually, these people turn out to be illegals. I'll detain these people, and make the necessary calls to the necessary agencies.

You may recall a thread a while back where I, Niteshift, and a few others discussed the helpfulness of the Border Patrol.

Or more likely, the lack thereof. Because the BP won't come out and pick up an illegal alien unless we already have them detained on other, non-immigration-related, charges.

If you can get the BP to come out for ONE person that you've detained solely because you THINK they're an illegal, then good for you. However, I'm in LA, Nite is somewhere in Florida, so at least in our respective corners of the country the BP won't even bother.

CopNY, let's face it. Not much is going to change in our life time. Everytime someone complains about how many we allow here, some one yells, "CONSTUTIONAL RIGHTS", the American anthem starts playing and tiny flags are everywhere. We are reminded we are the melting pot of the world. I just hope I ain't here when the pot melts.

Immigration is great. You wouldn't be here if it hadn't been allowed. Saying that they will take all the jobs is just bull. Human labor is an economic resource and the more people that come in to get jobs the better. You know yourself that most immigrants start out with the cruddy jobs that you would never work. Jobs are created every day, there is almost always going to be room for more. I am against government handouts to anyone, but allowing non-criminals to enter our country is a good thing.
