‘My nephew got killed, we got to live with that,’ Family of man killed by police speaks

OKLAHOMA CITY — A rape suspect was shot and killed after police say he lunged at them with a knife.

The suspect’s family says he was murdered.

Andre Williams has a lengthy criminal record, and he’s served jail time for assaulting a police officer before.

Even so, his family says they don’t think Williams deserved to be shot.

Wednesday evening, police officers went to a home in the 1300 block of N.E. 24th, looking for a rape suspect.

“They did make contact with a person who later on turned out to be a relative of the suspect, he allowed them access into the house,” Captain Paco Balderrama with Oklahoma City Police says.

Once inside, police found the suspect, 26-year-old Andre Williams, under a bed armed with a knife.

“The officers at the scene ordered this person to drop the knife, also to come out from under the bed,” Balderrama said.

Officers say he did not comply, that’s when Williams was tased.

“It did not work, the suspect them lunged at one of the officers with a knife still in hand, that’s when he was shot by one of the officers, he was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Balderrama said.

And now family says he was murdered.

“They try to justify what they do, but it’s not right, my nephew got killed and we got to live with that,” Ellen Roberts, William’s great aunt says.

“A police officer, I believe they could take a knife cut to the arm or something just to wrestle somebody down,” Marckus White, another family member said.

Family members say officers could have handled things another way.

“One against that many, he was outnumbered with a knife, come on, a kitchen knife, are you serious?” White says.

“Getting up from out under the bed, don’t you think about 3 or 4 police officer could down somebody,” Roberts says.

Williams’ family says his long rap sheet is no excuse for his death.

“Black lives do matter and even though he does have a record, a violent record, they still should’ve went about it a different way,” White said.

“I have three sons and I fear for them, not just my family, I fear for black kids,” Roberts said.

The officers are on paid leave and homicide detectives are investigating.

Police say they did find evidence at the home that the initial rape victim was bound, raped and held against her will.

“A police officer, I believe they could take a knife cut to the arm or something just to wrestle somebody down,” Marckus White, another family member said.

Roughly translated, means: "As long as it ain't my arm I'm good with it."

Somebody should just walk up and randomly stab ole' Marckus in the arm and record the screams. Then play it back for him every time he isn't sure he supports a police officer's decision.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

This is what knife wounds can do. We don't get paid enough to suffer these as "part of the job."

"Black lives matter" is not a valid justification for anything and YOUR culture (read: not race) is the problem. We will win every time, and I will go home at the end of every shift regardless of anything you say or do.

Stop blaming the police and start teaching your children to have integrity, accept personal responsibility and make good choices.

I agree with Ellen Robert's (the aunt). Police didn't have to shoot him, they could have just wrestled him. They could have taken a knife cut to the arm. That cut could be in the Brachial artery. That officer could bleed out in minutes. The ****bag could have not resisted. He could have thought about bringing a knife to a gun fight. The officer could have stunned him with his rainbow gun after dismounting his unicorn.

Fun to play the could have game.

Why couldn't any of them have "taken a cut to the arm" to contain their feces stain rapist thug to protect him from the meanie poo poo bully police men?

Well I believe if you don't know how to live in civilized society can't keep your nose clean or stay out of trouble and lunge at ANYONE with a knife after raping someone then you deserve a bullet to the face. To save tax payers the cost of incarcerating your useless noncontributing *** and save your future victims the trauma.
