I wrote a similar post this past Thanksgiving in regards to the surviving families of our fallen brothers and sisters. I want to take a special moment for the officers who have recently fallen. It has been a rough few days. As many of you probably have already purchased your children's gifts; our recent fallen brothers and sisters had surely done the same. It saddens me to no end to realize that these officer's children will discover their parent's gift tomorrow morning. Imagine being one of these children. Not only have you lost one of your parents you are now staring at the last gift you will receive from them. Knowing they purchased this with love and placed it under the tree full well expecting to see the joy on your face when you open it. Now imagine when you pull out their gift. Imagine the sheer pain you would feel knowing they are no longer there to receive it.
