  • “point them out, knock them out" situation in Memphis

    Look at this ignorance...

Three beaten as mob swarms Memphis Kroger

The next time you are in Memphis near Poplar Plaza, get the hell out of there.

Various local news stations are reporting three people were beaten Saturday when an estimated 100 youths swarmed a parking lot and beat anyone who didn’t run.

A video taken by one witness shows the swarm and features the witness laughing as the mob gets a “white dude.”
The mob was comprised of black and white people, said WREG-TV, and a witness said two of the three victims were black.

One group is shown stomping one victim until he can no longer move and then hitting him with Kroger pumpkins before a security guard steps in.

That victim is a Kroger employee who tried to stop the mob from attacking customers, says WREG.

The gang of teens had gathered at the shopping center to play a game called “point them out, knock them out,” which involves someone pointing at someone and the crowd beating them.

“There was no real reason behind it,” said one witness, who said it is the second such incident he has seen in a week.
All victims have been released from the hospital.

A 15-year-old teen was arrested and charged with the equivalent of aggravated assault, WREG reported Monday. The teen, who does not attend school, was out of jail on gun-related charges. In the video (and picture above), the arrested teen is the one in the lime green shirt kicking the person on the ground, police say.

Since the suspect is a minor his name will not be released and technically he cannot be charged with a crime. As odd as it sounds, when the suspect turns 18 he will be able to honestly say he’s never been convicted of a crime when applying for a job. He can also legally purchase a gun.

Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong said the incident is extremely troubling, especially since it came just days after the city’s youth violence prevention forum.

I thought TN was a good CC state? No CCer in the shopping center?

Not that I'm shocked but did anyone else notice the "citizen journalist" saying somebody call someone as she held what was presumably a cell phone in her hand recording an agg assault.

I thought that was why people carried two cell phones, one to call 911 with while they filmed illegal shiat.

No, wait, its for transporting and distributing narcotics.
I yell "PIKACHU" before I tase someone.

This seems very bizarre. Why would teenagers do such a thing?

Also, is there a link to the raw footage? I would like to know what the person recording is commenting on; unfortunately, the audio portion of the cell phone video seemed to have been scrambled by the news crew to render it incomprehensible, presumably to guard the identity of the witness.
She was laughing about it while she video'ed it, that's why they are scrambling the audio.

Stupid has no color or race, everyone can participate.

what she was meaning to say was "somebody that cares needs to call someone".

IMO, charges should be filed against her.

There was a caller on Michael Berry yesterday that works in that Krogers, and says that this is actually the 2nd weekend in a row this has happened there, and he doesn't expect it to stop any time soon.

I wish my power of arrest / ability to police was good across the state line. I'd head south for the weekend.

This is becoming common. Like the Atlanta metro mall I will cross it off my list of places to vist.

I'd assume that Memphis PD will be posted up there this weekend. If not, the local citizens need to suit up and make that parking lot look like the Bundy ranch.

Hey now. Some folks with on-call job responsibilities have to carry two phones. However, I have a feeling that you rarely mistake doctors and IT engineers for drug dealers...

100 person mob. Geeze, I am going to have to carry even MORE magazines!
When you are dead, you don't know you're dead. It is difficult only for the others around you.

It is the same when you are stupid.

Yes, however, once a few go down, I'd be willing to bed that a majority of those left will shiat their pants that there is someone that's not only not afraid of them, but willing to use deadly force to stand up to them, and they will run back under the rock from which they came.
