  • No good deed....

    ....goes unpunished.

There I was, sitting in my patrol car, writing a ticket for 'Parking in a Handicapped Space' w/o proper tag or permit displayed.

Everything's going fine when I hear a horn honking behind me. I look in my side mirror and see a pickup truck backing out behind me...or trying to.

I finish the ticket, then exit my car. A little old lady is standing beside the pickup...with her hands on her hips. 'I wish you'd hurry up. I don't want to sit here all day!'

I ignore her, but slow down considerably in walking to the car, putting the ticket on the windshield, then slowly return to my car, fasten my seatbelt, make a notation of the ticket in my log book, then advise dispatch that I'm back '10-8'.

As I pull forward, I glance in the side mirror, seeing her back out. SHE has a HANDICAPPED tag on her vehicle.....

All I could think was 'You stupid ........'
