Drunken police under investigation for festive flashing

TWO off-duty police officers were caught flashing in the main street of Wynnum, in bayside Brisbane, during a drunken Christmas celebration.
The officers were photographed standing on a seat with their arms in the air and their pants around their ankles.
A small child can be seen standing with two adults in the photograph's background.
The photograph was taken shortly before 5pm on Friday, December 22, at Bay Tce, the business heart of Wynnum.
It has been handed to investigators as part of a wider complaint against police.
The two officers, a Detective Constable and a Senior Constable, had been having Christmas drinks with a friend.
They later moved with a small group of people to a nearby Chinese restaurant and after drinking all afternoon, walked out of the restaurant to the seat, dropped their pants and waved to their friends across the road.
Businesses were still open and filled with Christmas shoppers.
A woman who had been at the lunch with the two officers is understood to have handed the photograph to internal investigators as part of a wider complaint about police behaviour.
The woman initially informed the Criminal Justice Commission, who referred it back to police but are overviewing the case.
The woman claims assault allegations she made against a former boyfriend were being ignored because the man was a friend of the two officers and other police.
She alleges her former boyfriend had previously been jailed for stalking, but was not even questioned over her allegations he had struck her and threatened to harm her family.
Police Commissioner Bob Atkinson said yesterday that the allegations were being treated seriously.
"The service expects high standards of behaviour of its officers both on and off duty. Unacceptable behaviour will result in discipline proceedings," Mr Atkinson said.
He said a commissioned officer would complete an investigation into the incident and other matters in the near future, but it was "not possible at this point in time to prejudge the outcome of this investigation".
"At this point in time neither of the officers have been suspended or stood down," he said.
The police service did not receive the complaint until March, he said.
The officers could not be contacted yesterday.
