  • How did you find out you were going to be a parent?

I, of course, knew before my husband. I kept it a secret for 2 months. We had wanted a child for 7 years but had accepted the fact were weren't going to have one after all those years. I caught the flu. I think that's how you get pregnant. lol Anyway, after 6 weeks of the flu, it dawned on me that I might be pregnant and I was! But, I waited, like I said, for 2 months so at least he wouldn't have to go through the disappointment if something happened.
When he came home from work, I had made supper and on his plate, I put a little baby in a cradle. He stared at it and said, "What's this for?" I said, "Think about it" and went into the kitchen. I stayed there like 5 minutes before he got it. He walked in the kitchen with this amazed look on his face. He said, "You mean?" I said, "Well, it doesn't mean the dog is going to have puppies!" He just WHOOPED and swung me around in the kitchen.
It was so much fun watching him. He was buying diapers and bottles and the crib and car seat before I even started wearing maternity clothes.
And he has adored his son still since he first saw him. So have I!

You mean AGAIN? I took an EPT test last week and it had made the required 2 lines instead of one.

But how do you tell your husband when you are pregnant, Thalia? Do you just blurt it out or send him and e-mail, or what? lol
DON! You mean you killed a BADGEBUNNY to become pregnant or what? LOL!

I dropped my wife off at the military clinic to see if the rabbit died. I knew the second I saw her walk out the door she was PG she did not have to tell me.

Mitzi, well, first I start getting grabbier than usual, and start complaining that I "don't feel good". Then I tell him that this is probably all his fault because I am probably pregnant. Then he keep bugging me to get an EPT test and of course wants to know the results immediately. I took one a few weeks ago and it was negative, but I still felt yucky so I took another a week later and bingo. I told him within a few hours, as soon as I got over the shock. Anyway, dh knows almost as soon as I do. If I don't tell him I can't blame it on him. The babies are great, but the morning sickness is the pits. I keep telling him that he gets to carry the next one.

The father of my son found out by having me reenter the Planned Parenthood waiting room in tears.

Of course I have more than gotten used to the idea ....even if he hasn't

Hmmm....perhaps this wasn't the kind of input you were looking for. Sorry

I just think it's neat to find out how mothers found out they were pregnanat and how they told the fathers. Good post, goodgirl!

I found out by accident, I was really ill and had this horrible rash. I went to the doctor and he informed me i was pregnant and contracted rubella from an unknown host. Those MMR shots you get when your about 10 years old at school, mine did not take and when i came in contact with someone i caught it. The result was a beautiful 4lb 6 oz baby girl named delilah born on 6/11/87. I am thankful everyday that she was just born deaf.

P.S. That is why all of our children have to get a series of the same shot now. Just in case the first one does not take.

My sister's daughter was born with hydrocephalus (water on the brain) that left her brain damaged and mentally retarded but she is the joy of the family. She is the sweetest thing and none of us could imagine life without her.
