  • Ban Dodge Ball ????

Can you believe this???? The ABC evening news had a segment about dodge ball in elementary school. Eight states have elliminated it and this nut case professor of education is encouraging all schools to ban it. The reason.... because students are ellimating other students from the game by HITTING them with an object. This is a display of force and aggression and can harm their poor fragil little minds. It shows them that force and agression are proper hense creating potential violent tendancies.

The proponents of the game countered that it teaches that life is not always a bed of roses and there are some losses in the arena of competetion. More than anything else, it's fun,it exercise, the kids like it, and it is good for hand eye coordination.

Another case of some liberal nut case pushing views on everyone.

That's insane, without dodgeball I would have never learned to defend myself against the schoolyard bully...

Geez, dodge ball is one of the coolest games that you can play at school.

In a since, it brings everyone together, if nothing else but to play. But this is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard of a school doing.

Who would have thoguht that a game played by throwing a soft nerf ball at someone creates violent tendencies? I guess that I had better warn the people at work(I work for the Post Office ).

I believe that dodge ball was banned from federal institutions back in '68.

                    WEll ...
perhaps it's a good thing that we quit teaching our children how to be aggressive and stick up for themselves. I mean, it would make for a SAFER society would'nt it ?

The only way that we can insure that our children grow up to be good little sheeple mindlessly working to pay taxes and live from day to day is to outlaw ANY type of game that might teach them things like teamwork , survival of the fittest or the fact that it is better to win than to lose.

That is the only way we can insure that no one gets their self esteem damaged for life.

We could start by banning any games that have competition in it, or any game that may have a winner or a loser. Then we might suspend our kids from school for drawing certain types of things such as army men with guns, and we could make examples out of second graders for bringing dangerous things to school such as plastic knives, or wearing narrow minded religious symbols like crosses or 6 pointed stars. We might even teach them that sticking up to the school yard bully by defending oneself by fighting is wrong and demands immediate suspension. I suspose we should make it illegal to defend oneself from anyhting...kinda like some of the more visionary big citys in this country have done. After all, it would make for a safer society would'nt it?

Once we banned everything that teaches us anything, I'm quite sure that society would become a kinder ,gentler place to live.

Thats what we are all striving for right ?

red rover, red rover has been banned in the schools here because its considered a form of sexual harrasment when the boys touch the girls stomachs. ( how dumb is this) most girls that even play this game are so young they still think boys are ugly.

Well, he may be thinking of it like people who were alwys chosen last on teams. I was always chosen first because I was so fast but I can only imagine the ones chosen last and how they felt. I used to make my kids draw numbers. Those with a "1" were on a team, those with a "2 were on a team. It made everyone feel better.
