  • Wisconsin officer accused of handcuffing wife during argument

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. - A police officer accused of handcuffing his wife after an argument is charged with a felony in Brown County.

Ashwaubenon Officer Thomas Benike faces a charge of false imprisonment and misdemeanor disorderly conduct. A criminal complaint says Benike's wife, Heidi, told authorities her husband accused her of taking his wallet after the two had a disagreement last October. He then handcuffed her and told her she was under arrest for theft.

Heidi Benike filed for divorce in November. The Green Bay Press-Gazette says the Ashwaubenon Police and Fire Commission has scheduled a hearing Friday to address Benike's employment.

Sounds like someone I used to work with.

He knew something was wrong with his marriage and got wind that his wife was staying with some guy in town when she was supposed to be away on business. On the day she was supposed to be back, he staked out the guy's house and saw her leaving with her suitcase.

He followed her home and waited outside his house long enough to cool down. Then he went inside, cuffed her up, put her and her suitcase behind the cage in his patrol car and drove back to the guy's house. Once there he marched her and her suitcase inside the guy's house, uncuffed her and said, "Here, you can have her back. I don't want her any more." Then he got in his patrol car and left.

Needless to say they are no longer married and he no longer works for that agency.
Going too far is half the pleasure of not getting anywhere
