It's seems there is a great possibility that "mayor" is not well liked..

Norway is a town in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 389 at the 2000 census. The town has a total area of 0.8 square miles.

When Mr. Mayor pulled me over, I wouldn't have given him anything other than a warning about interfering.

That "mayor" sure has a set of brass ones for messing with the trooper like that. I suspect there might have been some bad blood from a previous incident.

I find it amazing that the on duty, uniformed, driving a marked squad car, in his jurisdiction, Trooper, gave his D/L to a guy that he just ticketed, didn't think was a legitimate P/O, and sat parked in front of him for over 20 minutes.

Can't wait until he's charged with impersonating a Police Officer.

Anybody know how "constables" are appointed in a town in SC. Does the "mayor" appoint them?

Try that with a Texas DPS Trooper.

I agree. Would anyone on this forum actually have pulled over and played this game? I know I wouldnt have.

Finger out the window as I left

As far as the mayor pulling this crap, shouldn't he be planning a rummage sale or issuing fishing licenses? Perhaps complaining about property upkeep regulations?
"Naw officer, I was hanging with my cousin"

The article doesn't indicate the soon-to-be-former mayor even mentioned police business on his own stop. The way it's worded, he suddenly thought it up after being let go by the trooper then did the U-turn to go get his pitiful little revenge trip.

Had he informed the trooper of the supposed police business, if there actually WERE actual police business for an overpaid small town mayor, his stop may have gone differently.
