Does it mean anything that every LEO I meet at the range gives me free ammo?

I have no idea why, but every time I meet a cop at the range, I almost always end up getting some free ammo out of it. Usually they skip out before I'm ready to leave (honestly, I'd sleep there if I could find a way) and usually end up leaving their left-over ammo. Never any of the good stuff (well, once, but he made sure I fired it off before he left...) but still...

Is this some sort of obscure warning? Like leaving a horse head in my bed or something? Or am I (perhaps) reading to much into this? [Wink]

Lictalon, that's one of the benefits of shooting with cops [Wink] The SWAT guys in my area are great, the bring out the MP-5s with tons of ammo. The only downside is that afterwards I have a really strong urge to move to another state so I could buy my own [Frown]

Is it legal to buy an MP5? I thought they were military/LE only.

Yes, this officer was SWAT as well. He only had his kal-tec (sp?) 9mm undercover with him, but he did mention the MP5...probably to make me jealous. I won't say that the only reason I want to be a cop is to play with all the toys, but I won't deny it either...

What are the odds of any department allowing me to carry a stock-less MP5 instead of a Glock? I'll lug it around with no complaints, chief, honest...

            Money? What is this money?

I'd be more than happy to shell out for the tax stamp...but what does an MP5 go for these days? A couple grand? On a teacher's salary? [Wink]

Why an MP-5? It's a really heavy, non-concealable pistol. I carry one every day in the patrol car and it stays in the rack where it belongs. If you want a carbine, get a .223, or a short-barrelled shotgun. Also, you could probably get a couple AR-15s for the price of one MP-5.
