Not so incredible when you realize there is (or was) a bird watcher out there named James Bond. There's where ol' Ian got the name!

There's a P.D. just north of Austin that has a Sr. Sgt. named no other than James Bond. Incredible...

About a year ago I got to see several of the Bond cars displayed at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, which is in southern England. Among the vehicles they showed was the old Aston Martin that Sean Connery drove in the earlier movies, the "underwater" Lotus Esprit that Roger Moore used, plus stuff from newer movies such as the BMW Z8 convertible that was "sawed" in half (from "The World is not Enough"). It wasn't a real Z8; it was a fiberglass replica using metal doors and fenders (probably parts bin rejects) but no drivetrain.

I'm a big fan of the Brosnan films. Dr. Flynn, who runs the Writing Lab where I work, is a HUGE Bond fan. He's bought the Walther PPK and the P99 (never fired them, mind you), and a BMW Z-3 (same color as in GoldenEye).

And occasionally, he labors under the delusion that he is a secret agent for British Intelligence with a 00-license to kid.

Nice guy. A little off his rocker.
