There is, but if I remember correctly, only traffic units wear it. There are some LAPD guys on this board who can answer that better than me.

Does anyone know what it looks like. I've seen LAPD patches (grey with a green cross in the middle).

That's the traffic patch. Patrol officers don't wear patches. Air unit officers have a patch similar to the traffic patch, except there is a winged propellor icon where the cross is on the traffic patch. SWAT also wears a subdued version that says SWAT in the middle.

I've seen other versions that say thing like "K9", "Narcotics," and "CRASH" in the center (variations of the SWAT patch), but I don't know if they are novelty patches or actually are worn by officers.
