    Urgent talks after beheading claim
    From AFP. June 12, 2001

10:40 (AEST) AN emergency cabinet meeting has been called in the Philippines after Muslim rebels claimed to have killed a US hostage.
President Gloria Arroyo and vice president Teofisto Guingona cut short appearances at
independence day ceremonies in Manila after the death was reported today.
The vice president said Ms Arroyo had called an emergency cabinet meeting.
Abu Sayyaf spokesman Abu Sabaya claimed in a radio interview this morning that his group had decapitated Californian Guillermo Sobrero.
He was one of three Americans held by the self-proclaimed Islamic independence group on the southern island of Basilan.
There has been no independent confirmation of the execution.

I looked on CNN and CBS and a few others, but saw no reports. Have any of you in the US heard of this or any further details?
