That made me laugh. Obviously the Trooper wanted to get by and the car he was tailing couldn't take a hint. So the purpose was to get by the slow car...

I live in FL. We are considering some version of this law right now, and I am conflicted/confused about it. I think if the law is written clearly to ensure that the left lane is only to be used for passing, and that when passing you still have to obey the speed limit, then the law makes sense.

I think it gets muddled with the phrase "slow traffic keep right" which doesn't make sense as a law because by definition the speed limit is not considered "slow". So someone could go 55 in a 55 in the left lane for miles and not break the law, but still congest traffic if there are speeders, which there are. So I guess I am in favor of a law that says the left lane is for passing only, but not in favor of a more vague law that says slow traffic must keep right because for a lot of people the speed limit is slow. But maybe the "slow traffic keep right" is just a perception of the law. I don't know.

Risk and reward... maybe the Trooper felt the risk of traveling that slowly on the way to his call (perhaps a semi-urgent call?) outweighed the risk of a rear-end collision? Then again he could have lit him up without tailing him I guess.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me...

Officer comes up behind you, in the fast lane and pulls right up onto your bumper. MOVE!!

Do not slow to 5 mph under the speed limit and stay put... gtf out of the way. Officer tried to get the point across by practically parking on his bumper but he couldn't take the hint. So, the officer escorted him to the appropriate lane to help him take the hint, then continued on his way. I've seen this happen quite a few times without the escort to the other lane... I liked that part.

California doesn't specifically have a law requiring slower traffic to stay in the right lanes, but many areas have signs saying "Slower Traffic Keep Right". Failure to comply with the sign would violate 21461(a) VC, failure to obey official traffic signs or signals.

Typical trooper. Gotta look strack even coming out of a porta potty.

                      Windshield crack

I thought he did great. He got the job done then on to the next call.

                        Awesome move.

After a few seconds, even I told the guy to get the freak out of the way.

edit: Below video was found on the related section of this thread's video... No common sense anywhere these days.

WTF? It's something anyone would crave to do in their POV. GTF out of the left lane if you're going to be dragging along!

And those dweebs on the audio of the video. How high were they? Hope they got their mom's minivan home in time.

When I was commuting I saw Troopers doing that about once a week on the expressway. Everyone was very grateful for a cop blazing a trail through 88 and making the grandmas move over to the right.

The problem with this is, I wonder how many of these people actually learn the lesson? That civic driver may have no idea what that was all about, and just do it again; it blows me away how many people literally don't know that the #1 lane is for passing. I'm sure he was busy or something, but it'd be better to pull the driver over and tell him/her why there was a problem.

Awesome video and +1 for the officer.

Wish they would do that around here.
