  • Man ‘freaking out’ over possible government shutdown hits himself

SILVERDALE — A 27-year-old contract employee for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard on Friday told Kitsap County sheriff's deputies he had hit himself in the face because he was "freaking out" over a possible government shutdown.

The shutdown was averted when Congress approved a budget late Friday, less than two hours before the federal government would have officially run out of money to keep many government services in operation.

Deputies had been called to a home on the 11000 block of Voyager Lane in Silverdale at about 10:45 p.m., where the man and a 21-year-old Silverdale woman said they had been arguing.

The man said he was worried about the prospect of no work and mounting bills. According to a report by a Kitsap County sheriff's deputy, he "advised he was freaking out over the impending government shutdown" and struck himself with his fist on the right side of his forehead, causing a visible knot.

The woman, interviewed separately, confirmed what the man said.

The man "wanted to take a walk and cool off," the report states. Deputies dropped him at Shari's Restaurant on Bucklin Hill Road.
Look sharp, act sharp, be sharp.

Is that an assault or battery? What if he called himself a racial slur too? Would that be a hate crime? I hope he at least takes himself to small claims court for lost time, pain and suffering.

Did he press charges against himself?
It could be that the purpose of your life is only to serve as a warning to others.

Some ppl go insane over the strangest of things.

There was a man here that didnt get his SS check on time. So he decided to take it out on the local Post Office and drive his 84 Blazer through the wall. Went back home, and got his 71 Mach 1 Mustang, and drove it through the hole he made with the Blazer. Then went home and waited on the Feds to show up in the nice black suburbans. Needless to say, this guy lives down the road from me. Didnt get any punishment what so ever, and got BOTH of his vehicles back.
