The FBI will be remembering two fallen agents on the 25th anniversary of one of the most intense shootouts in South Florida history.

FBI officials will hold a memorial service in North Miami Beach Monday to remember agents Jerry Dove and Benjamin P. Grogan, who were killed in the line of duty on April 11, 1986, in what is now Pinecrest.

Five other agents were injured and two bank robbery suspects also killed in the 145-bullet barrage.

Last week, NBC Miami spoke with one of the surviving agents, John Hanlon, who was hit with several rounds and feels fortunate to have survived the bloody day.

"I feel real good about what we did, I'm very proud of what we did, we did our duty, we did our best and we killed 'em," he said.

Suspects William Mattix and Michael Platt didn't go down easy, outgunning the agents' revolvers with machine guns.

The deadly gun battle is studied in police academies all over the world and is the reason officers today carry automatic weapons.

Since some people need to be told by notes in crayon .......Don't PM me with without prior permission. If you can't discuss the situation in the open forum ----it must not be that important

My new word for the day is FOCUS, when someone irritates you tell them to FOCUS

Wow. 25 years ago already. Time seems to be going by faster and faster every year.
