  • Snow below the mason-dixon line!

I just saw some of the pictures from the snow in NC and SC. I didn't think you guys ever got snow, much less that amount of it! Is that unusual for there to be snow there or am I just clueless?? Or both??

That should definitely put a damper on Dave's grass skirt hula dancing.
If there is a tourist season, why can't I shoot them???

Nah the snow won't put a damper on it, but I'll have to wear my Matterhorns under the skirt this time.

Oh yeah, we get snow several times a winter, but it absolutely shuts things down. One inch of snow will close all schools, and LE will work wrecks till doomsday.

It gets bad from time to time. In 90, Mt Pisgah got 40" IN MAY. In 93, we got 12"-18" and was so bad, the National Guard was having to assist, and got a HUMVEE stuck.

I have a cousin that moved to Montana, and he just laughs-out there TWO FEET wont close schools. Our county is funny anyway-our lowest elevation is probably under 1000 feet ASL. Our highest road is probably 3000 feet ASL, so they get lots of snow. However, if one school is closed, they ALL are closed, so I've seen a "dusting" and the schools are closed.

I didn't argue when I was in school however.
People have more fun than anybody.

But Dave, I didn't think they closed reform schools for snow.

We never get snow here in my area of Georgia (the northern part gets a good bit). So the snow we got this past week was the 1st bit of snow my eyes have seen in 8 long years! It was neat to finally have some snow on the ground, even if it only lasted a day and I slept through most of it. Oh well.

We get snow in my little neck of the Carolinas about once a year, usually its a light dusting with no accumulations, this one was the biggest in a few years. Schools close, businesses shut down, we have wrecks out the ying-yang (Highway Patrol has to cover them, we dont work wrecks ), but we do have to do escorts for essential personel, like hospital staff, dispatch, and jail personnel if they dont want to drive in the snow. The grocery stores get swamped with people buying bread and milk and other "essentials".

Just last night I was in my POV and came upon a brand new Dodge Ram laying on its side in a ditch, checked on the occupants and found a mom and her 2 year old, she said she never drove in snow before. Checked and found that she didnt even have it in 4 wheel drive.

But most of it is melting off, but we have a forecast for a freeze tomorrow night which means that were gonna have ice all over the roads and even more wrecks.

I have to laugh...Years ago we moved from Ft. Richardson, Alaska down to Ft.Bragg NC.

In AK we'd have snow so high the huge snowblowers were all that would open up the roads. Schools and businesses always stayed open. In North Carolina a little dusting of snow and everything closed down.

I bet this last snow had them going crazy!!!!

This morning when I woke up it was 28 degrees. By 2 o'clock it was 71.

Screwy weather it is. We NEVER had weather like this until Bubba Klinton became president. Makes me wonder sometimes...

I remember back in the early 90's Christmas Eve it started snowing. I was SUPPOSE to work Christmas Day, woke up to 18" of snow I was snowed in for three days before we could get out. And this was at the coast
