Trying to take advantage of the 'little guy'...

When we put our pool in, the cleaning system had a lifetime guarantee. When some of the heads broke off 10 years later, they tried to charge us 600$. But Al still had the lifetime guarantee in our files. Saved us 600$. The pool company wasn't too happy but there it was in black and white. They told my H they had to keep the paper he bought in and he said no way. It ended up with him telling them they could make a copy but not keep the original. Problem was, they had the original from when he showed them. My husband said they could call the police and they could intervene but they WERE going to give him the original copy. So they did and didn't bother to make a copy. sheeeesh

With all the COLD weather The South has been abused by this winter, I've gone through more gas than normal so far. This morning, I ordered more gas and told the lady I'd drop my payment off after school.

'What about this balance due?' she asked.

'WHAT balance?' I inquired.

'We show you oweing for December.'

No way...no how. I was seething, because I KNOW I always pay IN ADVANCE when I buy gas. I'd also bought gas in January and nothing was said about 'any balance due' at that time.

'We'll discuss this when I come in this afternoon', I said and hung up.

So...I fumed over it all day. Then I remembered I had my cancelled checks for December at school. I'd been culling out those I needed for my Income Tax stuff.

This afternoon, I strode into their office, told them who I was and asked to see this 'balance due' spoken of earlier.

'It's right here.' the lady said, pulling up my account on her computer. 'We show a delivery on 'such and such date' but no payment.'

'Funny....' I smiled, 'because here is the cancelled check that YOUR company deposited re: that purchase.'

I wish I'd had a camera....
