  • Missing School Bus

What a weird news story...a Berks County, PA, school bus carrying 13 students from one school to another has been missing since 7:30 AM. It only had 8 miles to go, the route has been retraced by police over and over. It has a 2-way radio but no one has been able to contact it. Doesn't make any sense.

Sorry about the double post JB.

They say now 2:25PM that it has been found.
No work on the condition yet.

And not sure if it's in Prince Georges county or Exeter township.

I hope it's not another Chowchilla incident.

LOL When I get the chance to watch or listen to the news I usually am at work and I use a variety of sources as to get a more complete story. Every news agency is going to put its own twist into it so reading the same story from four or five different sources can give you a unique view of the story.

                    Here's a link I followed through Yahoo.
                    http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/2002..._bus_dc_4.html

This story comes via Reuters, and says virtually the same things in the Fox link, but check this out - "police found a loaded M-1 Springfield rifle, which is a military firearm, behind the driver's seat, covered by the driver's coat."

Hmmm. Aside from the obvious misidentification of the weapon, (remember the .38 magnum automatic service revolver? ) no mention is made that it is an obsolete military weapon, nor that he had 5 rds of ammo, well within the postban capacity limits.

Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Chowchilla occured in the town of that name in California back in the '70's. A whole schoolbus full of children was hijacked and the children and drivers were driven somewhere and buried alive. A very interesting study was done on the psycholgical after effects of the children in the book "Too Scared To Cry".

(An interesting anology of Stephen King was done in that book too. )

The Chowchilla kidnapping was way different; the 3 knuckle-heads that tried it had planned ahead (somewhat), had used a front end loader to dig out a hole in the property of ones' Father, had food and water for the kids and driver...but then allowed the hostages to escape by not posting a guard and in general the 3 bunglers bungled the crime (they had not planned on spending multi years being some Lifers bitch either )
