Lots of new things to be aware of, looks like GM is getting out ahead of this one.

I would imagine it's the same with a Prius. It also has a large battery and is silent when going less than 5 mph.

EDIT: Yes, indeed. From 2005: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/18/au.../18HYBRID.html

Sort of, although there are differences on where the high power leads go through the body, I would imagine.

Like any hybrid, you look for the neon colors. Depending on the make of the vehicle, it will be neon orange or neon green... either way, that's a high voltage line.

By opening the hood, you can always find a shutoff for the juice from the main battery pack. Likewise, there is almost always a cutoff under the back seat of hybrid SUV's.
The academy teaches you skills, the street gives you experience, but it all comes down to your instinct.

Sully, are the new batteries are as bad an explosion hazard as the old ones?
Yeah. That would go poorly. Like, on the Scale of Fail, somewhere between "Titanic" and "Chernobyl."

I'm really into car audio and know a lot about the electrical components and what not of cars. I can tell you all the new dry cell batteries are definately a LOT safer. No leaks or explosions in hot conditions. However i don't know much about the lithium batteries going in this. I would only assume they're dry cell and a huge improvement of older batteries.
