  • Valentine's Day

"The history of Valentine's Day -- and its patron saint -- is shrouded in mystery. But we do know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine's Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition.
According to one legend, Valentine actually sent the first 'valentine' greeting himself. While in prison, it is believed that Valentine fell in love with a young girl -- who may have been his jailor's daughter -- who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter, which he signed 'From your Valentine,' an expression that is still in use today."
Posted is a little history of this glorious day.
We buy our loved one jewelry, flowers and fancy dinners. to show that we are a romantic at heart and that we truly love them. For all the effort that you put into this day to make them feel loved and wanted, you might in return recieve a card, a pat on the butt with a god love you. You hope and pray that all your efforts may bring a bigger reward later in the evening.
So! Lets hear what you have all planned out for this great day.
Lets all hope that it isn't anything like a friend of mine recieved after the flowers and dinner, and nice gift. DIVORCE PAPERS [Eek!]

I'm not big on Valentine's Day. i'd rather have a b/f treat me special on my birthday, or another day that may mean alot to us.

I really think theres too much "Valentine pressure," especially on guys, to make it such a perfect day. If somebody loves you they should show it every day, not just on a Hallmark Holiday.

            Hey Jellybean,
My sentiments exactly! If only my wife shared them... Can you talk to her? [Wink]

I don't expect hundreds of dollars in gifts, however, I do expect to be acknowledged on valentine's day (from my sweetheart). A simple....

"will you be my valentine?" will do. (along with a candybar, preferably reese peanut butter cup)

              I'd be one happy woman.
Oh... Oh... I know you di-int!

I must be doing something wrong... I'm the one that buys HIM candy. But I always buy him candy that I like! [Wink]

Other than that (and a little nookie, if you must know) it's usually just another day.

This year our Bishop is putting on a huge, formal fundraiser for our diocesan charity. We bought tickets ($$$$) to be supportive, but we're not really formal-type people and neither of us dance. Hope the dinner's good!

I plan to be working. Like all other Holidays, it'll be just another day at work except no double time and a half.
