  • for all those who bitch about US cops...

Just wanted to share with you guys that I think the coppers in FL are great. (I could not check out the rest yet but I assume they are similar all over USA) I just earned my 2nd ticket two days ago and again, the experience of getting a ticket was as comfortable as getting one can ever get.

I am used to police officers who scream with you, who pick on people, who stopped me 8 times a single day etc... (all this back home)... here thus far I was stopped 3 times in 2 years. Once for an illegal turn to the left at a red light (I did not understood the law at that time... in Europe there is no turn at all at red) and I got a smiling face Miami Beach Police Officer who let me get away with it. Next I got a moving violation which again was my fault and I got ticketed by a FHP trooper where again, I had a nice friendly conversation going on, and finally the other day I did 63 in 45 thus earned my ticket and the Broward County Deputy even explained me in great detail what to do IN ORDER TO GET A SMALLER FINE.

After all this I can't understand those who complain.

I think if everyone would just sit calm, hands on the wheel, and understand that his'her butt was busted because of his/her fault than there would be less problems out there...

My friend, you've just hit on the one most common reason that there exists so much conflict in this land; No one will take the responsiblity for their own actions.

It covers all incidents from being tapped for littering to multi-murder. Americans no longer teach responsiblity nor accept the ideal. It slows them down in their dash through life.

Jim hit the nail on the head. Our society would be much better if people accepted responsibility for their actions. I think this is also true for lawsuits. People should take responsibility for their own mistakes and own actions instead of trying to blame someone else.

I had a friend that was sued for something I couldn;t believe. They did not win, however, she did.
A neighbor thought her 3 year old daughter was sleeping. Well, she wasn't. She got out of the house and went to my friends house who did not know it. The little girl opened the front door and it closed on her hand as she tried to open it wider, breaking her hand.
The parents sued my friend, saying that she had an "unsafe" door and this could happen to other people.
The judge threw it out, thank goodness. But this really upset my frien. She said it was entirely out of her hands yet they sued. The neighborly friendship was over.
