I assume you're talking about a rookie LEO, not a rookie o.com member, right?
If it's LEO, you're usually looking at about a year or so. Or once there's someone more junior on your shift. Or, of course, once you stop falling for the stupid rookie tricks.
Any way to get out of it? Nope.

I'll stop being a rookie when Ateamer tells me I'm not a rookie
As far as seniority goes, we already have about 12 deputies with less than me. The deputy with the highest seniority for my shift has been there less than 2 years"I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids." -General Jack D. Ripper, Commanding General, Burpleson Air Force Base

Mike........... be careful picking up your toothbrush son. You never know when that thing will go off now.
The standard answer is at least a year...... but I say it's when you stop acting like a rookie, which could be longer than a year.
