  • I think I'm going to be sick...

I was at Best Buy last night, and while on the way to the checkout counter, I walked by the Geek Squad counter. I looked over at the counter and noticed one of the employees behind the counter dressed in their typical white shirt, black tie, black pants, along with all the usual tech stuff, such as p[hone, PDA, etc. But I also happened to notice...A BADGE ON HIS BELT!! No kidding. A silver badge, looked juat like a typical pointed oval with eagle shield...and it had the Geek Squad seal on the front.

What the ****?! Wanna-be computer tech plays cop. Clipped on his belt like a detective and everything. Disgusting.

It's a harmless metaphorical marketing ploy.

It's just a sales gimmick. You guys really need to relax. Are you THAT worried that a Geek Squad member is going to steal your thunder?? More power to them if they do.

It doesn't take much, does it?

I don't agree with your opinion, but I respect its straightforwardness in terms of wrongness.

Plus I've gotten word-of-mouth that they like to go through customers computers looking for porn, personal pics, etc to steal. Avoid them. Bunch of clowns.

They have no place wearing a badge.
+1 on all of the above.

Still not as dorky as Officer Salvatore "The Dude" Rivieri, patrolling in his gay little Smart Car, and wearing his little yellow and black "uniform." (Look him up on YouTube...)
Sure, that badge will get you midgets, but those midgets will get that badge!

I don't get how that would make you sick. They are in the store they work. If not, they're driving in a car that clearly states Geek Squad.

They're just doing a job they're paid to do with the uniform they're issued.

I'd rather buy a new computer than let them touch it.

Even worse, the VW bugs they drive were painted police black and white until CHP reminded them that doing so was illegal in California.

What? Are you serious? Could you please reference the law that says you cannot paint a car black and white like that. When I lived in Cali I am sure I have seen those ex police vehicle sold to civies that still have that paint scheme, less all the agency identifiers.

Not to mention its a VW Bug we are talking about!

This reminds me of a thread about security guards/"wannabe cops". Someone was complaining about how a security gaurd had a uniform that resembled a police officers and a car that resembled a LEO vehicle with that air of contempt that this dude was just a wannabe, how dare he impersonate and so on.

To the the OP of this thread and the poster who had issue with the security guard, need I remind them....ITS JUST THEIR JOB UNIFORM!! ITS JUST THEIR COMPANY VEHICLE!! GOT AN ISSUE WITH IT? BRING IT UP WITH THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY!!!!
