No, because the guy walked away uninjured. They have special metal cages in those cars that protect the drivers from getting seriously hurt/killed.

So typical of vintage cars (like the 1968 Camaro in the video) - all fine in a straight line, but they can't stop or turn very well.

The comments above reflect my personal opinion as a private citizen, ordinary motorist and all-around good guy.

Now see, if Mr. Dumas (pronounced "dumb a55") was at a legal race track he would have had plenty of runway to slow down and make the last turnout. What a moron.

Had the money to make that car built like that, and yet he can't spend a few $$ on a track fee?
If I tell you what I know, I'd have to kill you. Fortunately, I don't know much.

The clip & the aftermath bring up a good issue---obviously serious streetracing requires some high-dollar effort which means in all probability there's drug-money,etc. involved. Without risking security, anyone out thereever get on the "inside" and learn, percentage-wise, just how much is involved & what percent IS illegal money? I was always on the outside of the "big boys", though I knew a few, but even they wouldn't tell me to what extent it was. Now that I'm no longer full-time LE, I'm still kinda curious......

He probably walked a few blocks, called a friend for a lift and alibi, declared the car stolen the next morning, collected an insurance payout.

I always like peoples' reactions when they see something like this... they just start running towards the wreck which is like a quarter or more mile away... instead of simply getting in another car and driving. That was fun.
