I saw a link to this over at packing.org and thought some here might find it interesting.

Well the graphics are nice but it doesn't show the whole picture, with the "shall issue" you might be able to carry a gun into those states, but that doesn't mean you get to carry it everywhere. "shall issues" are different from state to state.

Go check out the rest of the packing.org click on the link of your state then your neighbors state, "Places off-limits while carrying" are vastly different.

actually, "shall issue" doesn't even mean you can carry a gun INTO those states. It only means that if you are a resident of that state, that state must give you a permit to carry within that state unless they have a good reason not to (such as having a criminal record, or mental problems).

Fortunately, many states do honor the CCW permits of certain other states, but that's not what the graphic is trying to show.

But you are right -- packing.org is a great place to go for more information on this topic.

Wouldnt it be nice if a CCW was reconized in ALL states ? It could be done much the same as a drivers liscence.

I second that, it's well worth the look.

Yes Watchman, it would be nice. Indiana's John Hostettler has introduced H.R. 990 Secure Access to Firearms Enhancement Act which would have states recognize CCW permits from other states. But, I am not getting my hopes up.
