  • Honorary/special officer

My grandfather is a police captain, I overheard him talking about a "honorary" deputy sheriff he encountered the other day. I was wondering how do other law enforcement professionals view and how do they feel about Honorary/special police officers or deputys

"Honorary" simply means you are a friend of the sheriff.

"Special" varies in meaning and may denote a part-time officer.

I do not belive they have them in PA. Like I said in the PA forum, give a donation to the PA sheriff's association or PA police chiefs and you can get yourself a nice sticker.
      I don't answer recruitment messages....
